Overview

The B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) was founded on January 18, 1993, and on October 28, 1998, it was upgraded to become an independent health sciences university. Its mission is to provide healthcare, engage in innovative health research, and develop a workforce of competent and socially conscious health professionals. The Institute, which is situated in Eastern Nepal, has taught the district model to Primary Health Care Centres, District Hospitals, and Zonal Hospitals in many districts throughout the region, extending its ongoing health services.

The MD, MS, and MSc postgraduate programmes were established in 1999. The Nepal Medical Council and the corresponding councils in Nepal recognise all of the MD, MS, MDS, MSc, and MPH degrees conferred by BPKIHS. The Medical Council of India (MCI) recognises the MD/MS degrees in anesthesiology, clinical pharmacology and therapeutics, dermatovenerology, ENT, internal medicine, orthopaedics, paediatrics, psychiatry, radiodiagnosis, and surgery.

Passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the university
